That's a nice-a Pizza!

Well I've been busy working on my crafty projects....Ideally I wanted to have them done yesterday so I could show you all what I've been working on, but alas....I'm not a fast enough crafter!
So instead I will tell tale of my adventures into pizza land :)

Pizza land basically consisted of me making pizza last night for delicious dinner.
I've never made the dough for the bases before (I'm from the pitta bread as pizza base school of eating) but I thought it couldn't be that tricky so I got a recipe from here and gave it a go.
It was fun to make and watch it grow, and I felt all fancy like an old Italian man and wanted to do the 'throwing the dough in the air' technique but I got scared and thought better of it (luckily....that could have ended in disaster)

Anyway: onto the toppings
Pizza number 1: some tomato pasta sauce spread nice and thin
lots of finely chopped garlic
basil (fresh from the garden...hah fancy)
thinly sliced tomato
sliced boccincini
sea salt and pepper on top

Pizza number 2: this is a white onion pizza and has been a family favourite
for about 15 ma always used to bust it out for entertaining and boy did it go down well! I'm told that this isn't a secret recipe so I am allowed to share it here

saute on low heat 2 finely sliced white onions until they have softened and gone translucent
brush a little bit of oil onto the pizza base
put on some chopped garlic
spread the cooked onions onto the base
place sliced boccichini on top of onion
sprinkle parsley (fresh from the garden....hah fancy) or basil, your choice
add sea salt and pepper to taste
and cook in a hot oven until it looks like a pizza should

Yum Yum Yum....and now I get to have left-over pizza for lunch, Hurrah.

The Poppet sale has been going for 2 weeks now and people have happily been snapping up bargains left, right and center. The sale was due to end today, but being the generous lass that I am, I've decided to extend it by one more week.

You have till Sunday the 29th to come into Poppet for

20-50% off all vintage clothing (yes: all!)

Meanwhile....I've been having a lovely weekend filled with cola and cupcakes and visits from buddies. I'm also working on some new crafty treasures that I hope to have done by wednesday (and hopefully I'll also have my etsy store up and running by the end of next week. So people that can't come into Poppet in person can stop by on the intranets! yippie)

Tally me Banana

The banana's are back!

Back by popular demand I've been making some more 'Tasty Treat' crochet necklaces, and it seems that the Banana is defiantly the flavor of choice!
Made with two tones of yellow wool, black beads for eyes and an embroidered smile these guys are too cute!
Just look how excited and happy he is to be coming out of his peel.
For anyone out there who is allergic to banana's, there is also pears, carrots, apples, strawberries and pineapples
(or have you're favourite fruit or veggie custom made)
Yum Yum

In other news I had a stall at the Craft Hatch market today.
It was a bit of a rainy day for it but I met some lovely new people and got to catch up with some people from previous markets.
It was a really fun day...but the customers practically demolished my squirrel and bunny population so I better get back to work :)

Hot Cross Fun!!!

I've been getting domestic urges of late; which if you know me you know this is quite strange. I've been doing things like cleaning out cupboards and re-organising the kitchen on my days off (weird right?) All this good-housekeeping business came to a head on Tuesday when I got the urge to do some baking.
When I was a kid it seems like I was always making biscuits or muffins or trying again and again to make a good caramel slice but always having the goo be not quite gooey enough (i gave up many years ago in trying to get it right; and believe I may go to my grave without ever conquering the mysterious beast known as caramel slice!)
Anyway....since I've had the shop I've found I haven't really had time to be baking as much, which is a shame because I always loved it. So I decided to set aside a few hours on my weekend to make something delicious.....Hot Cross Buns!
I'd never made these (or any bready product before) so I was a bit nervous as to how they would turn out, but low and behold....the yeast worked it's magic and I got to watch my mixture grow and grow. Then I got to kneed and shape and hold my breath as they baked

Ta Da!
They're pretty tasty but I think the recipe could have used a bit more sugar because I like my buns nice and sweet (that's why I put chocolate in as well as sultanas...yay)
So that's my adventures in baking for this week!
I hope I didn't make you too hungry with all the food talk
